We crave #beauty, a desire as old as time itself. Social media filters let us explore different versions of ourselves, a digital cosplay for the modern age.

It’s fun, engaging, and even lucrative for some. But what if the brushstrokes of our self-expression come from AI, not our own hands?

I recently experimented with AI-generated content, and the results were…mixed. It’s a powerful tool, but #boundaries are essential.

We need to be clear on why we use it and what we hope to achieve.

This isn’t about AI replacing #creativity.

It’s about rejecting the pressure for a “perfect” face.

It saddens me to know that countless lives are sacrificed on the altar of plastic surgery due to insecurity and the desire to achieve an unattainable ideal – the perfect Barbie-like figure with a supermodel’s face and body.

Cosmetic surgeons warn of the risks associated with anesthesia and invasive procedures, even for outpatient surgeries. If the motivation is solely to look good for photos or to project a more ‘idealized version’ of oneself, wouldn’t AI offer a safer and more creative way to express yourself?

Now, imagine your child asking you to sponsor their cosmetic surgery.

Would you support their decision, or would you encourage them to explore the possibilities of AI as a tool for self-expression?

Lastly, I want to highlight that while I haven’t personally witnessed friends struggling with plastic surgery addiction, however I’ve found myself quite emotional watching before-and-after videos. We aren’t born exactly as we might envision ourselves, and advancements in healthcare have presented an option to pursue desired facial features – a taller nose, a V-shaped face, larger eyes, and so on.

AI allows for creative exploration without the physical risks of surgery and the potential loss of a precious life. However, AI also gives us the option to create personas that differ from our real selves.

We must remember that the digital creations we produce are not our true identities. Responsible AI use requires awareness of this.

AI is a #powerful tool, but like any tool, it can be #misused.

We must prioritize safe, responsible development for a future built on trust and human ingenuity.
